Before you start
You’ll need a domain you already own (from any registrar — GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google Domains, and so on), and access to its DNS settings. If you don’t have a domain yet, buy one first, then come back.
1. Open “Connect a domain”
On your dashboard, find the build you want to connect and open its Connect a domain option. Type the domain (or subdomain) you want to use — for example yourbusiness.com or shop.yourbusiness.com.
2. Copy the CNAME record
GetForge gives you a single CNAME record — a name and a target value. That’s the whole thing. Keep that page open; you’ll paste it in the next step.
3. Add it at your registrar
Go to your domain’s DNS settings (wherever you bought the domain) and add a new record:
- Type: CNAME
- Name / Host: the name GetForge gave you (often www or your subdomain)
- Value / Target: the target GetForge gave you — paste it exactly
- TTL: leave the default (or “automatic”)
Save the record.
4. Wait for it to take
DNS changes spread across the internet on their own schedule — usually minutes, sometimes up to a few hours. Once it resolves, GetForge issues a secure certificate automatically, so your domain loads over HTTPS with no extra steps. When it’s ready, your build answers at your own address.
Tips
• Paste the target value exactly — a stray space or a missing dot is the usual culprit when a domain won’t connect.
• A root domain (yourbusiness.com with no www) can be fussier than a subdomain; if your registrar supports CNAME flattening or ALIAS records, use it, or start with www.
